If there is any single factor that makes for success in living, it is the ability to profit by defeat. every success i know has been achieved because the person was able to analyze defeat and actually profit by it in his next undertaking. confuse defeat with failure, and you are doomed indeed to failure. for it isn't defeat that makes you fail: it is your own refusal to see in defeat the guide and encouragement to success.

defeats are nothing to be ashamed of. they are routine incidents in the life of every man who achieves success. but defeat is a dead loss unless you do face it without humiliation, analyze it and learn why you failed. defeat, in other words, can help to cure its own cause. not only does defeat prepare us for success, but nothing can arouse within us such a compelling desire to succeed. if you let a baby grasp a rod and try to pull it away, he will cling more and more tightly until his whole weight is suspended. it is this same reaction which should give you new and greater strength every time you are defeated. if you exploit the power which defeat gives, you can accomplish with it far more than you are capable of.

Since I go to high school, I have many annoyances. On the one hand, I am under great pressure on my study, I need to take the exams every month, once I am falling behind other students, I will feel that I am not doing well. I always want to be the best, but things can’t go on my way.

On the other hand, I don’t want to talk to my parents, if they ask me the questions, I will answer them with few words. I think they won’t understand me, so I am not willing to communicate with my parents. I know I am in the adolescence, my body grows fast, changes happen on me, my emotion is unstable. So I need to learn to adjust myself and get used to these changes. I need to open my heart and have less pressure.

打从我上高中起，我就有很多烦恼。一方面，我在学习方面面临很大的压力，我每个月都要参加很多的开始，一旦比别的学生落后，我就会觉得我做得不好。我总是想要成为第一名，但是事情并不总是按照我的意愿走。

另一方面，我不想要和我父母交流，如果他们问我问题，我就三言两语搪塞他们。我觉得他们并不了解我，因此我不愿意和父母交流。我知道我处于青春期，我的身体长得很快，我身上发生了变化，情绪变得很不稳定。所以我学着去调节自己，适应这些变化。我需要打开心扉，减少压力。

Four years ago in the spring, I went to Guilin with my parents. It is the first time I came to the sightseeing resort landscape under heaven ". The view of Guilin is wonderful, green grass, green trees, and colourful flowers. For a few spots we are tired, so they sat on the roadside rest on the bench, while enjoying the beautiful scenery, eating bring good food, comfortable ah! At this point, we noticed that most people could carry away their own food bags and peels and trash, while others threw litter on the floor. Seeing that someone had destroyed the beautiful scenery here, I really couldn't agree with it. So I went up and picked it up and threw it into the dustbin. My parents saw me and gave me a thumbs up and praised me for doing well!

又到了一年的春天，外出旅游肯定是大家心往的一件事，我至今仍对我的桂林之游记忆犹新。

四年前的春天，我随爸爸妈妈一起到桂林旅游。那是我第一次来到“山水甲天下”的胜地游山玩水。桂林的景色可真好，青的草，绿的树，还有各色鲜艳的'花儿。旅游景点环境也很好，地面上一尘不染，周围还飘荡着新鲜的空气，给人心旷神怡的感觉。前来旅游的叔叔阿姨们见到这种景色也都赞不绝口地说：“这儿的景色可真好！”连续看了几个景点我们累了，于是便坐在路旁的石凳上休息，一边欣赏这美丽的风光，一边吃着随身带来的食品，好舒服啊！这时我们注意到大多数人都能把自己带来的食品包装袋和果皮纸屑随身带走，而有的人却把垃圾随意扔在地上。看到有人把这里的美好风光破坏了，我真不甘心，于是就走上前把它捡起来，扔进了垃圾箱，爸爸妈妈看见了向我竖起了大拇指，夸我做得好呢！

现在全国上下开展学习“八荣八耻”活动。学习它就要从一点一滴做起，从身边的小事做起。记得《新闻联播》中曾经播放过这样一条新闻：深圳“世界之窗”游乐园的工作人员为了防止那些不爱护环境的人乱扔垃圾，他们就跟在那些人的后面专门清除他们随意扔在地上的垃圾，直到那些人感到羞愧、不随地乱扔垃圾为止。就是这种办法使“世界之窗”变得更加美丽。

我们要热爱祖国，就要保护它的环境，使它变得更加美丽！
