So it’s not surprising to see some parents in China are under a frenzy of cultivating their children’s interests or, more precisely to say, solidifying the steps to success. But, from my perspective, both the education methods are

somewhat suitable for the country itself. In the second place, it’s fine for women to support family as long as they earn better than men. In the past, women always were treated very badly, and they got no rights to be educated, to work. In some countries, they can’t even show their face to others. A traditional female role is to stay at home, taking care of children and do all of the housework. But now, lots of women have a good job, so that they totally have the ability to be the economic backbone. Therefore, in order to take good care of family, men are likely to stay at home to do housework. I don’t think it’s a shame for men, because no matter what you do, as long as you do it well, you are successful.

The picture mirrors a common social phenomenon from a unique angle — people tend to care more for the next generation than the previous one. On the one hand, young couples dote on children, most of whom are the “only children”. Parents endeavor to prepare their kids for a bright future by raising them healthily. On the other hand, young couples fail to spend time with their old parents, and some of them are even too mean to provide the old with at least a decent living environment.

I think such a trend is quite abnormal and distressing. Filial duty used to be the most highly prized virtue among the Chinese for over two thousand years. Busy as people are, the duty should not be easily shirked. Supplying our old parents with material and emotional supports is not only a repayment to them, but can also set a good example to educate the youth.
