Aesop and the Traveler

In ancient Greece there once lived a clever man.His name was Aesop.

One day,when Aesop was taking a walk in the country,a traveler stopped him and said,"Kind sir,can you tell me how soon I can get to town?"

"Go."Aesop answered.

"I know I must go,"said the traveler,"But I want to know how soon I can get to town."

"Go."Aesop shouted to him.

The traveler was very angry."This man must be mad,"he thought.And he walked away.

Suddenly he heard Aesop shouting to him,"You will get to town in two hours."

The traveler was greatly surprised.He turned back and ask-ed,"Why didn't you tell me that before?”

"How could I have told you that before?"answered Aesop,"I didn't know how fast you could walk."

So he took the ass home, and put him into the stable with the other asses. The new ass looked around, and immediately went to choose a place next to the laziest ass in the stable.

于是他把驴带回家，把它和其他驴放在马厩里。新驴四处张望，马上就在马厩里最懒的驴的'旁边选了一个地方。

When the man saw this he put a halter on the ass at once, and gave him back to his owner.The owner felt quite surprised. He asked the man, "Why are you back so soon? Have you tested him already?" "I don't want to test him any more," replied the man.

于是，买驴的人立刻给那头驴套上缰绳，牵去还给驴的卖主。卖主感到很奇怪，他问买主：“你怎么这么快就回来了?你测试过它了么？”“不必再试了，从他所选择什么样的朋友来看，我已经知道他是什么样的了。”买主回答。

哇！老爸真厉害，看来这英语我是教定了！很有“天赋”呢！终于有个单词老爸，“猜错读音了。”是‘普累’不是‘普恩’。再读一遍，‘普累’。我像位老师一样严格地纠正老爸的错误读者。就这样，报的速度比平时慢了一倍，因为不光写，还得一遍遍纠正读音。许多天后、、、、、、“老爸！这次要写句子！”老爸闻声，慢慢悠悠地晃了过来，面露难色，极不情愿地拿起我的英语书，用一口不标准，不流利的英语给我报了起来。

天！我起诉！本来超简单的英语句子，经老爸嘴里一说，恐怕连老外也听不懂了！我凭自己“非凡”的理解能力，艰难地写完了英语作业。接着，我抱着英语书，给老爸来了次突击补习。从第一单元到第三单元的单词和letstake中的黑体句子全部一个不落地教起来。这下，老爸惨了，叫苦连天，可我还是不依不饶地教下去。直到该上床睡觉了，才肯放过老爸。

不仅老爸口干舌燥，我这个当老师的容易吗！还好，在中考前几天的“英听”中，老爸把一些比较基本，简单的单词全部读对了。真是功夫不负有心人！我为老爸颁发了“全勤奖”，“勤奋好学奖”和“认真听课奖”下次，我还要教爸爸学英语！

有一天，爸爸收到一份广告，上面说人才中心要举办艾斯通英语培训班，由老外任教。3月13日，老外在人才中心上公开课，那天上午，爸爸征求了我的意见后，带着我去听公开课。

上课了，进来了两个女老师。爸爸告诉我，那个金发碧眼个子很高的便是老外，旁边那个是中国老师，她是老外的助教，在课堂教学中帮助老外和我们沟通。老外不会说中文，她首先用英语作了自我介绍，接着教我们每个人都用英语说“mynameis……”。那天老外上课的主要内容是人的五官和身体的主要部位，她将这些单词用图形挂在黑板上，并要求我们每个人走到讲台上和她一起边做动作边读。开始，我有些读音发不准，但老外一点都不烦，她耐心地教我很多遍，直到我读准确为止。当同学们读会这些单词后，老外把我们全都叫到讲台上，围成一个圈，由她指着自己身体的部位读，如果对了，我们也用手指着自己身体同样的部位跟着读；如果错了，看我们谁反应快，纠正老外的'“错误”。这个游戏很好玩，同学们都踊跃参与，课堂气氛很浓。游戏结束后，老外还兴致勃勃地教我们学唱英文歌……
