Secondly, more and more trees and flowers should be planted to keep our surrounding clean. People must be required to plant plants around their houses and work places.

Christmas Day falls on the twenty-fifth of December. It is a very happy day for many boys and girls. Before the term ends in some schools, the children act a nativity or “birth” play, showing how Jesus was born in a stable.
On the twenty-fourth of December, all children are very excited. Usually they are sent to bed early so that their parents can get the presents ready. The younger children think that Father Christmas will come down the chimney or fireplace, so they hang up a sock for him to put presents in. The greedy ones even hang up a pillow-case or a sack to try to get more presents. Later that night, Father or Mother will put presents in the sock, and leave others at the side of the bed.
On Christmas morning, the children wake up very early. Some even turn on the light at two o‘clock, and most of them are awake by six o‘clock although it is not light in England for another hour or two at this time of the year. Children look for their presents, and the young ones play while the dinner is prepared. At about one o‘clock in the afternoon, the Christmas dinner is
brought in. The turkey or chicken is quickly eaten. Children search in their Christmas pudding for new coins which are hidden in it. The rest of the day is full of games and eating until the happiest of all Christmas holidays comes to an end.
Christmas Day, the 25th of December is the biggest festival celebrated in the Christian countries of the world. Although everyone enjoys Christmas Day, it is particularly enjoyed by children, who get very excited because of the presents they know they are going to receive. Small children believe that their presents are brought by Santa Claus. Santa Claus (also called Father Christmas) is a kind of old man who, the children are told, lives at the North Pole. He travels through the sky
on a sleigh which is pulled by reindeers and loaded with presents. Stopping on the roof of houses, he enters by climbing the chimney. When small children go to bed on Christmas Eve, they hang a stocking at the end of their beds. Their parents warn them not to try to look at Father Christmas, or he will not leave them anything. When they wake, they find their stockings filled with presents. Children are very excited on Christmas morning and always wake up early.
Christmas is also a family celebration. As any members of the family as possible meet together.

Are Neighbors Important ?
In pioneer days, being a good neighbor was very important. Neighbors helped one another raise a house, build a barn, and clear fields.Families depended on one another for friendship and entertainment. But today in our cities and suburbs, neighboring is not common. A family may not even know the other families that live close by.
We live in an age of machines, and each family may have its own car, TV set, and washing machine. People no longer depend on neighbors as much as they once did.
Machines keep people apart in other ways. In our grandparents' time, women met while they hung out their washing, and men stopped and talked while they mowed their lawns. Today, women stay in the house with their automatic dryers. The men can't hear anything above the roar of their
power lawn mowers. And the children are inside watching their favorite TV show.
Is the idea of being neighborly old-fashioned? In 1965, a power failure hit New York City, and many thousands of people were left stranded. Suddenly, everyone shared the same problem, and our largest city became a group of eight million neighbors. People with cars offered rides to those walking.Other persons helped direct traffic. Trapped in elevators, people played word games and helped keep each other in good spirits.
In times of trouble, people still depend on one another. As time goes on, people may once again feel that being a good neighbor is important.
The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, usually in February or March in the Gregorian calendar. As early as the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 25), it had become a festival with great significance.
This day's important activity is watching lanterns. Throughout the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), Buddhism flourished in China. One emperor heard that Buddhist monks would watch sarira, or remains from the cremation of Buddha's body, and light lanterns to worship Buddha on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, so he ordered to light lanterns in the imperial palace and temples to show respect to Buddha on this day. Later, the Buddhist rite developed into a grand festival among common people and its influence expanded from the Central Plains to the whole of China.
