On the twenty-fourth of December, all children are very excited. Usually they are sent to bed early so that their parents can get the presents ready. The younger children think that Father Christmas will come down the chimney or fireplace, so they hang up a sock for him to put presents in. The greedy ones even hang up a pillow-case or a sack to try to get more presents. Later that night, father or mother will put presents in the sock, and leave others at the side of the bed.

在12月24日这天，所有的小孩都很兴奋。他们常常被(父母)早早地赶上床去睡觉，以便他们的`父母能准备好礼物。年幼一点的小孩认为圣诞老人将从烟囱或壁炉里下来，所以他们挂起袜子，方便圣诞老人把礼物放进去。有些贪心的人，为了能得到更多的礼物，甚至把枕套或布袋挂起来。晚一些时候，爸爸或妈妈将礼物放进袜子，并把其他礼物放在孩子们的床边。

等大家安静下来，老师开始报单词了。老师说：“NO 1 use”，然后，我们就写在听写本上。老师一个接着一个的报着单词。不过，幸好，我昨天在抄写的时候，我是认真的抄写的。而且，我抄写完了以后，妈妈还叫我背过，记过。妈妈还口头让我背出所有抄写过的单词的呢！我想我这次听写肯定是胸有成竹的了，没有什么好怕的啦！我正想着，忽然，老师报到“run”这个单词，我一下子愕然了。这个单词昨天没有抄写过呀！老师这是唱的哪出戏呀？不过，幸好，我以前记过。我是没有问题的，我能写出来的.。我想，肯定有好些同学都写不出来的。就这样，老师报完了所有的单词，我们交了听写本子。

到傍晚的时候，老师把英语本子发下来，我一看，哈哈！我全对。我还是蛮厉害的呀！我暗自窃喜着。
